作者:Rusakova, EE (Rusakova, EE) ; Tunitskaya, VL (Tunitskaya, VL) ; Kochetkov, SN (Kochetkov, SN) Abstract The recent data on the structure and functioning of the DNA-dependent RNA polymerase of T7 bacteriophage are summarized. The single-subunit structure and relatively low molecular mass of the enzyme make it a most convenient model for investigating the physicochemical aspects of transcription. The properties of T7 RNA polymerase, its interaction with the promoter, the main stages of transcription, such as initiation, elongation, and termination, as well as the results of structural-functional investigations are analyzed. The T7 RNA polymerase structure and mechanism of action are compared with those of some related RNA and DNA polymerases. |
