Intravenous leiomyomatosis

A 50-year-old female patient presented with abdominal distension and shortness of breath for half a year. She had a history of 2 vaginal deliveries and tubal sterilization. She reported an irregular menstrual cycle recently and denied any other medical history. Physical examination revealed slight bilateral leg edema. Ultrasonic examination detected a large pelvic solid mass, whereas abdominal computed tomography venography suggested intravenous leiomyomatosis beginning in the right ovarian vein through the common iliac vein to the inferior vena cava and finally reaching the right atrium (Figure 1).
