We have studied solid‐state compatibility in the Bi 2 O 3 –TiO 2 –Bi 2 WO 6 ternary system. Based on previously reported data, we prepared different compositions and calcined them in air at 850°C. The crystalline phases and the microstructures were analyzed using X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results allowed us to determine seven new compatibility triangles: Bi 2 O 3 –Bi 12 TiO 20 –Bi 14 W 2 O 27 , Bi 12 TiO 20 –Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 –Bi 14 W 2 O 27 , Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 –Bi 6 Ti 3 WO 18 –Bi 14 W 2 O 27 , Bi 6 Ti 3 WO 18 –Bi 10 Ti 3 W 3 O 30 –Bi 14 W 2 O 27 , Bi 10 Ti 3 W 3 O 30 –Bi 2 WO 6 –Bi 14 W 2 O 27 , Bi 6 Ti 3 WO 18 –Bi 10 Ti 3 W 3 O 30 –Bi 6 Ti 5 WO 22 , and Bi 2 WO 6 –Bi 10 Ti 3 W 3 O 30 –Bi 6 Ti 5 WO 22 . The existence of the Bi 4 WO 9 phase, as reported in the Bi 2 O 3 –WO 3 binary system, could not be confirmed. The Bi 4 Ti 3 W x O 12+3 x ( x ≤0.05) solid solution was detected and, therefore, the Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 –Bi 2 Ti 4 O 11 –Bi 6 Ti 3 WO 18 compatibility triangle was corrected to include two‐phase fields.
