Nowadays, biogenesis of nanoparticles are emerging to prevent environmental pollution as well as their use does not require additional reducing and stabilizing agents. Therefore, we have synthesized nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiONPs) by green method using Mentha spicata leaves extract. NiONPs were synthesized by heating method (90 °C). The shape and size of the synthesized NPs were observed to be spherical and 25–55 nm, respectively. Biogenic NiONPs were successfully applied as catalysts in the Kumada-Corriu cross-coupling reaction. The use of NiONPs as a catalyst decreases reaction time from 6 hours to 80 minutes and increases the product yield from 82 to 88%. The turnover frequency (TOF) and rate of reaction calculated are 330 s−1 and 6.6 mol/s. The second-order kinetics model was best fitted to explain kinetics of the Kumada-Corriu cross-coupling reaction.
