DOI: 10.1161/ATVBAHA.118.311136), a correction was needed. The authors of the above recently published article in ATVB have reperformed the series of experiments in which there might have been a possible error regarding the description of the reagents. The authors reperformed siRNA experiments using siRNAs from exigon for both NF-1 (nuclear factor 1) and NF1 (neurofibromatosis 1). For the case of the siRNA experiments, treatment with both siRNAs attenuated repression of smooth muscle marker gene expression via qPCR. Therefore, to delineate which factor could be binding to the promoter region of SM α-actin, SM22α, and SM-MHC, the authors performed in vitro and in vivo ChIP analysis using antibodies to neurofibromatosis 1 (Cell Signaling, 14623S), NF-1/C (Millipore, ABE1387), NRF-1 (Millipore, ABE1844), CTF (Abcam, AB245597), or IgG. These in vitro and in vivo ChIP analyses were able to address the potential concerns and demonstrate that nuclear factor 1 (NF-1/CTF) directly binds the smooth muscle marker gene promoter region DNA. With this Correction and determination that while neurofibromatosis 1 may play a role in aneurysm formation from the siRNA studies, it is not binding with ZFP148 in this instance. Therefore, the title should read “ZFP148 (Zinc-Finger Protein 148) Binds Cooperatively With NF-1 (Nuclear Factor 1) to Inhibit Smooth Muscle Marker Gene Expression During Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Formation.”This correction has been made to the current online version of the article, which is available at www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/ATVBAHA.118.311136.Reference1.
