The newly published American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology/American College of Chest Physicians/Society of Academic Emergency Medicine/Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography/Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance guidelines for the evaluation and diagnosis of chest pain are the first of their kind.1 Although they interface with existing guidelines for stable ischemic chest pain and acute coronary syndromes, these guidelines are broader and encompass the evaluation of chest pain as a presenting complaint in a number of different settings.
