摘要
The article summarizes the findings of a study prepared for the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) comparing US and EU data protection legislation for law enforcement and surveillance purposes, which was conducted in preparation of the adoption of the Umbrella Agreement and the Privacy Shield. In this context, it carries out an analysis of recent US legislation such as the Judicial Redress Act, the FREEDOM Act as well as related laws and matches them against EU standards. Brief remarks on the recently published Privacy Shield conclude the article.
