Sulfur dioxide and water adsorptive and kinetic properties on MOR and MFI type zeolites, with different silica to alumina molar ratios, were investigated. Experimentally obtained breakthrough curves for both single component systems and a binary mixture of SO2in presence of water vapor were compared with the calculated curves, using linear driving force based, non-isothermal, model. In addition, Langmuir-Freundlich and extended Langmuir-Freundlich equilibrium models were used to predict equilibrium behaviour of the single and binary systems respectively. Modelling results showed good agreements in general with the experimentally determined breakthrough curves. Further analysis confirmed that macropore and external film resistances were predominant mass transfer resistances for most of the systems studied.
