Chemical recycling of polyethylene terephthalate, known as PET, has been the subject of increased interest as a valuable feedstock for different chemical processes. In the present work, an attempt has been made to depolymerize PET to yield Terephthalic acid (TPA) and ethylene glycol (EG). This process leads to the complete depolymerization of PET to its monomers, carried out by the chemical recycling of PET waste in the reactor and 92% conversion of PET will be obtained at 90 degrees Celsius. Chemical recycling of post-consumer waste PET bottles via alkaline hydrolysis. At the end, complete conversion of the PET wastes into terephthalic acid is obtained. The important objective of this research work is to eliminate or reduce PET plastic wastes and converted completely into value-added products for additives. The operational parameters such as time, temperature and amounts of ethylene glycol and catalysts are varied to achieve greater efficiency of the reaction.
