Anisotropic Hybrid Hydrogels: Anisotropic Hybrid Hydrogels with Superior Mechanical Properties Reminiscent of Tendons or Ligaments (Adv. Funct. Mater. 38/2019)
In article number 1904342, Jaeyun Kim and co-workers describe a tendon-like hydrogel with superior mechanical properties and an anisotropic structure. The double-network hydrogel incorporated with high aspect-ratio porous particles are linearly stretched and fixed, resulting in an extraordinarily high modulus, strength, and toughness even in the swollen state, which is reminiscent of that of tendons and ligaments.
