摘要
In Karnataka, Byadagi chilli farming faces challenges from climate irregularities and fruit rot. This study explores the economic feasibility of Nigella (Nigella sativa L.) cultivation as an viable alternative. It analyzed costs, returns, income structure, and resource use efficiency in Rajasthan. Employing investment patterns, cost and returns analysis, and resource efficiency, the research offers insights into challenges faced by Byadagi chilli farmers and proposes Nigella as a sustainable option. Findings showed Nigella yields a net return of ?2,26,704 per ha. A Cobb-Douglas production model highlighted the positive impact of specific resources on Nigella production. Despite profitability, issues like limited high-yielding varieties, labour, input costs, and irrigation were noted. These findings supported policy frameworks for sustainable agriculture and improving farmer well-being.
