Game theory has been extensively studied and applied in both the field of business and animal behavior. Similarly, in aquaculture, research and applications in these areas are in need as well. Consequently, why not use game theory to study aquaculture? There are very few researches and no reviews on this topic. This paper reviews applications of game theory on aquaculture, as well as its potential prospects for future applications. First, the utilization of game theory in the context of breeding is introduced, such as the release of gametes. Then, the applications of game theory in both the farming process and the aquatic product market are reviewed, like preference for water depth and product sales strategy. Following this, the future prospects and potential development directions of game theory in various aspects of aquaculture, such as transportation, are discussed in this paper.
