摘要
In order to simulate the casting process of a typical aluminum alloy, a 3 D entity model for a pouring system was used for numerical analysis of the filling and solidification process with ProCAST software. A comprehensive analysis including the change of temperature field, the velocity of filling, the solid phase as well as the location of casting defect, showed that the defects such as shrinkage (cavity) porosity can be reduced effectively with an increase in the mold preheating temperature and the number of vents. This simulation also serves as a theoretical reference for the sake of facilitating casting quality.
