Surgical interventions of the male and female reproductive tract are some of the most common and challenging operations performed in birds. With proper training, instrumentation, experience, and knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology, a successful outcome can be achieved. In order to provide a successful surgical outcome, magnification, illumination, and microsurgical instrumentation and techniques must be used in small patients. Close monitoring and support of body temperature, hydration status, and analgesia are essential.
