New biobased, biodegradable and functional textiles and structural construction materials can be fabricated through controlled assembly of cellulose nanofibers. In article 2001238, L. Daniel Söderberg and co-workers present the state-of-the-art in filament spinning from nanocellulose, including how properties can be predicted and optimized by understanding how nanofibers behave in flowing dispersions through in situ process characterization using, for example, X-ray scattering techniques.
