摘要
This chapter discusses the phenformin hydrochloride. Phenformin hydrochloride is named in chemical abstracts as 1-phenethylbiguanide hydrochloride. Phenfomin hydrochloride is a white or practically white in color, it is odorless, crystalline powder. The infrared spectrum of phenformin hydrochloride is discussed in this chapter. Phenformin hydrochloride displayed the NMR spectrum is also discussed in this chapter. Shapiro reported the absorption spectra for phenformin hydrochloride. Phenformin hydrochloride was found to be unstable under electron impact-mass spectrometry conditions. Phenformin hydrochloride has a melting point of 176-178°. Phenformin is a strongly basic substance and consequently exists in di and mono ionic form. The thermal stability of phenformin hydrochloride was determined on a Perkin-Elmer Model DSC-1B Thermal Analyzer. Phenformin hydrochloride is weight stable through its melting point.
