The problem of urban environment is an important problem facing the world today, among which the issue of urban heat island is one of the hotspots of global attention in recent years. In this paper, the heat island effect in Jinan is studied based on the Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS satellite data on May 27, 2021 and May 3, 2018. The land surface temperature is retrieved by atmospheric correction method, and the land surface temperature intensity classification map of Jinan is obtained by normalization. On this basis, the land surface temperature and normalized vegetation index (NDVI), bare soil index (BSI), normalized difference bare land index (NDBBI) and improved normalized water index (MNDWI) are statistically analyzed, and the quantitative relationship between land surface temperature and four indexes is obtained. The results show that: (1) the heat island effect in Jinan is obviously enhanced, and the heat island intensity decreases gradually from the urban center to the suburbs and outer suburbs. Extremely high temperature areas and high temperature areas are mainly distributed in urban built areas and some bare land. (2) the land surface temperature in Jinan is positively correlated with BSI and NDBBI, and negatively correlated with NDVI and MNDWI. This study has a certain reference and application value for alleviating the heat island effect and improving the urban thermal environment in Jinan.
