摘要
Hydrogen storage is a critical factor in the progress of hydrogen and fuel cell techniques in applications including portable power, stationary power, and transportation. Hydrogen has the highest energy per mass of any fuel, but its low ambient temperature density results in a low energy per unit volume. Therefore, it needs the best development of advanced storage methods that have a talent for higher energy density. The reputation of hydrogen storage lies in its talent to allow vast amounts of clean energy to be stored for long periods for use in peak demand and seasonal energy balancing. Therefore, the recent advances in hydrogen storage methods are discussed in this chapter. This chapter describes the need for hydrogen storage, hydrogen storage targets and materials required, and different storage methods. Besides, the challenges and future perspectives are also discussed.
