Wound infection is a major obstacle to the repair of skin damage. In response to this threat, in this research, a Minocycline hydrochloride(MH)-complexed temperature-sensitive gel was developed for the repair of infectious skin injuries. Poloxamer 407 (P407) and poloxamer 188 (P188) were used as the main carriers and minocycline hydrochloride (MH) was wrapped with Ca2+ complexes. Through its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, the gel reduces the inflammatory reactions and promotes wound healing. The gel is administered in liquid form and fills the wound; it sets quickly on contact with the skin (>30 °C) and adheres perfectly to the wound slowly releasing the drug to prevent infection and promote healing. In animal tests, the MH-complexed temperature-sensitive gel inhibited bacterial growth, reduced the inflammatory response, promoted angiogenesis and collagen deposition, and accelerated wound repair. Therefore, this MH complexes temperature-sensitive gel has promising applications as a trauma dressing.
