摘要
The current insufficient status of blood supply in sub-Saharan Africa is well documented and a serious problem. With increasing sophistication in medical practice and a growing population, the importance of sufficient supply of safe blood is becoming highly prominent. Although hospital teams have the skills to treat emergencies such as trauma, peripartum haemorrhage, or sickle cell crisis, blood is needed to bridge the acute phase of such trauma situations. It is unequivocally accepted that there are not enough blood donors in sub-Saharan Africa.
