Dendritic epithelial keratitis in primary herpes simplex infection

A 76-year-old man with a 3-day history of redness, itchiness and blurred vision in the right eye. Ocular examination of the right eye showed dendritic ulcers, limited to epithelium, on the surface of the cornea. After staining with fluorescein dye, the right eye revealed multiple small branching epithelial dendrites with terminal bulbs on the surface of the cornea. Herpes simplex keratitis of right eye was diagnosed.
