摘要
Sugarcane Bagasse (SB), Corn Cob (CC), Coconut Fibers (CF) are the most affluently available agro-wastes. They have been implemented in different applications and its use as a source of cellulose is attracting attention in the area of biomedical, food packaging, pharma industry and other applications. The aim of this study is to explore the exertion of novel combination of biomasses (hybrid biomass) SB - CC and SB - CF as a source for the production of Micro Crystalline Cellulose (MCC) by conventional method of acid hydrolysis to improve its properties and behaviour. Structural (FTIR spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction), Particle size, thermal analysis and Surface Morphology of MCCs were carried out and the analysis revealed that MCCs obtained from hybrid biomasses have higher crystallinity (89% for SB - CC and 84.39% for SB - CF) than that of using individual biomass, and good thermal stability. These extracted MCCs with increased crystallinity are expected to have a high potential as a reinforcement agent for bio composite film preparation and other value-added products in industrial applications.
