摘要
The rapid progress of nanoscience heavily relies on the synthetic breakthroughs. Beside the nanoscience field, the pursuit of atomic precision is also of critical importance in other areas, including inorganic cluster chemistry, gas phase cluster science and solid-state materials science, as well as supramolecular chemistry. This chapter discusses a few issues that hamper nanoscience research from going deeper. The cluster state is also of wide interest in the inorganic chemistry field. The field of gas phase cluster science has moved from small sizes to larger sizes in the current efforts. Since the 1960s, intense research on gas phase clusters has been carried out, including inert-gas-element clusters, metal clusters, carbon clusters, water clusters, and many other types. The chapter also presents an overview on the key concepts discussed in this book.
