The redefinition of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) to include liver steatosis and at least one of five cardiometabolic factors has introduced fresh viewpoints and ignited numerous clinical discussions.1 Among the disputes is how MASLD manifests in patients in different weight categories. Previous understandings suggested that conditions like obesity predominantly influence fatty liver diseases,2 but the scenario becomes complex when focusing on MASLD, a condition predominantly influenced by metabolic abnormalities.
