Luminescent sensing techniques have attracted considerable attention due to their great potential in environmental pollutant detection, drug quality control, disease diagnosis, and in vivo imaging. Dynamic luminescent probes have the characteristic of reversible sensing, which can achieve the dynamic monitoring of two antagonistic analytes through reversible optical signal changes caused by them. In this review, we have summarized the response types of dynamic luminescent probes for the first time, including "reaction" type, "interaction" type, and "inducible" type. Subsequently, we systematically overview the latest research progress of dynamic luminescent probes in reversible analysis and bioimaging, including ions, molecules, gas, pH, and temperature sensing. Finally, the challenges and future direction of dynamic luminescent probes are deeply discussed. This review is expected to stimulate more advanced design of dynamic luminescent probes, thus further promoting their applications in future reversible luminescent sensing.
