Capillary Electrophoresis

The aim of this article is to explain the fundamentals of capillary electrophoresis with particular focus to its application in forensic analysis. It will start with describing the simple sufficient theoretical basics for newcomers to understand how capillary electrophoresis works and its terminology. The basic constituents of the instrumentation will be described in addition to the modes of separation applied. Moreover, the critical applications of capillary electrophoresis in both forensic chemistry and biogenetics will be discussed stressing on the technical consideration required during sample handling, preparation, and analysis. Also, it will conclude with a brief consideration of what the near future may hold for capillary electrophoresis in forensic science.
