Pd and Pd-Ag membranes were deposited on the surface of tritium processing material ZrCo by electroless plating method.The characteristics of the membranes were determined by XRD and SEM technologies.The effect of the membranes on improving the poisoning resistance of ZrCo alloy was investigated.The uniform and compact thin Pd membrane was revealed from SEM images.However,there were some defects in the Pd-Ag membrane because of the difference of the overall deposition potentials between Pd and Ag elements.The hydrogen absorption properties of the bare,Pd-coated and Pd-Ag-coated ZrCo alloys were measured.It was found that both of the Pd and Pd-Ag membranes could improve the poisoning resistance of ZrCo alloy.The effect was ordered as Pd-Ag membrane Pd membrane.The optimal operation temperature of the membranes was 250 ℃ under the present experimental conditions.
