摘要
The ageing process results in changes in metabolic homeostasis, resulting in increased risk for many metabolic diseases including Alzheimer's disease. The rapid development of mass spectrometry and lipidomics has allowed for the unprecedented profiling of human samples. In this chapter, we reviewed the literature on lipid associations observed with aging and Alzheimer's disease. We further highlight potential paths forward in intergrating lipidomics and biological age, using the concept of metabolic aging as an approach to identify individuals at higher risk of age-related diseases.
