27439 Expression of skin barrier-related genes and long-lasting moisturization by a natural hydration complex

Background: Stratum corneum water content greatly influences skin’s appearance and its mechanical and metabolic properties. A compromised skin barrier resulting from dry skin can be improved with use of a moisturizer. Plant actives have been shown to be effective in the management of several skin conditions, including atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and xerosis. A natural hydration complex (NHC) was developed using proprietary formulation of pea protein, squalane and inulin to deliver long-lasting skin hydration.
