In this study, the influences of cylindrical indenter radius on the mechanical properties of Cu50Ta50/Cu multilayers are investigated using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The nanoindentation characteristics of the Cu50Ta50/Cu multilayers are analyzed through the deformation mechanism, von Mises stress, fraction of high strain atoms, recovery ratio, indentation force, and dislocation length diagrams. The significant differences in mechanical properties of the Cu50Ta50/Cu multilayers are deeply discussed as increasing cylindrical indenter radius. The results provide a clear understanding on the mechanical abilities of the Cu50Ta50/Cu multilayers in nanoindentation.
