Food Res. 2019, 63, 1900589 DOI: 10.1002/mnfr.201900589 In article number 1900589, Chunbao Li and co-workers find that a chicken-protein-based diet maintains—while a soy protein-based diet reduces—the abundance of A. muciniphila and the number of goblet cells, lowers the level of Muc2 mRNA, and decreases the thickness of the mucus layer in the colon. These effects are associated with different functions of A. muciniphila in response to intake of the two dietary proteins.
