摘要
A network of electric current meters is applied to measure the electric current of the spindle and feed motors in turning processes. It is confirmed that the cutting speed and feed rate tightly depend on the frequency of the electric power modulation energizing the spindle and feed motors accordingly. It is possible to estimate the depth of cut by measuring the amplitude of the electric current connecting to the spindle motor and its calibration via empirical model of the cutting force. Verification of the proposed method for the cutting parameters monitoring with the current meters is carried out by a series of experiments processing several materials such as steels, cast iron, and aluminum.
