摘要
As personal health monitoring needs continue to rise and individuals seek more detailed health informatics, chemical wearable sensors are becoming an increasingly attractive solution. Although physical signal sensing saw the initial attention surge during the rise of wearables, chemical sensing has been more recently realized for its offering of diverse and dynamic analyte detection toward precise and preventative healthcare. Via the use of highly specific biorecognition strategies, chemical sensors can address sensing needs for an ever-increasing number of disease states. Due to their versatility and potential for application on both conventional and novel platforms, these chemical wearable sensors are used to quantify both targets which exist inside and outside of the body, the spectrum of which is explored herein. This entry will detail the various types of chemical wearable sensors, including their application to a variety of biofluids and analytes, attempts at integration of these chemical sensors into larger sensing modalities, and obstacles which present during these applications, concluded by an investigation into the long-term potential of these devices.
