Pothos scandens L. is a medicinal plant found in North East India with various ethno-medicinal activities.A compound was isolated from the bark of P. scandens and the structure was characterized as Octyl isonicotinate (1) by extensive NMR, FT-IR and mass analysis.Compound 1 exhibited significant antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and Candida albicans by Agar well diffusion method with zone of inhibition value of 9.16±0.28mm and 12.5±0.51mm, respectively compared with standards Amikacin (19.33±0.57mm) and Fluconazole (15.9±0.12 mm).The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values were found 12.30 µg/mL and 6.50 µg/mL respectively as compared to Amikacin (4.37 µg/mL) and Fluconazole (7.5µg/mL).
