The development of high performance electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction is desirable to meet our future energy demands. In this context, we report the successful synthesis of cubic Ni2P/FeP hybrid electrocatalysts with cruciform surfaces through a facile phosphidization of Ni-Fe Prussian blue analog (PBA). Benefiting from the synergistic effect of unique microstructure and two-components, the optimized catalyst (NiFe-1) delivers remarkable electrocatalytic activity towards hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with a low overpotential (160 mV at 10 mA cm−2), small Tafel slope (104 mV·dec−1) and excellent stability in alkaline condition. This work presents a new strategy in designing transition metal phosphide cubic hybrid electrocatalysts with enhanced HER - activity.
