The exceptional qualities and distinctive structures of aerogel materials have drawn much interest from researchers. Among the many types of aerogel materials, silica fiber-based aerogels have drawn special attention due to their exceptional chemical stability and distinctive thermal characteristics. The main focus of this review was to introduce the current state of the art regarding silica fiber-based aerogels in terms of material selection, structural design, controlled construction, and multifunctional applications. Initially, we provided a quick overview of the fundamental concepts, suitable raw materials, and common building techniques for aerogels made of silica fibers. The primary and pressing issue with silica fiber-based aerogel materials that must be resolved for practical use is their poor mechanical performance; therefore, additional research has been performed on methods to improve their mechanical performance.
