摘要
Carbon dots (CDs), which are nanoscale carbon-based materials, have gained substantial attention because of their exceptional catalytic properties and environmental applications. This chapter explores the multifaceted role of CDs in catalytic processes, focusing on their significance in addressing critical environmental and industrial challenges. The chapter also discusses the utilization of CDs as catalysts for carbon dioxide (CO2) conversion, a pressing issue in the context of climate change and sustainable energy production. In addition, it discusses the mechanisms by which CDs enhance CO2 reduction, offering insights into their potential for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and producing valuable chemicals and fuels. Furthermore, the chapter explores how CDs facilitate hydrogen (H2) evolution, a key aspect of clean energy generation. Their unique catalytic properties in promoting water splitting and other hydrogen-related reactions are discussed, shedding light on their role in the transition to a hydrogen-based economy. Finally, this chapter addresses the application of CDs in various organic reactions, highlighting their efficiency in promoting chemical transformations, green synthesis, and sustainable manufacturing processes.
