摘要
Mast cells (MCs) are effectors in type 2 immunity, well known for their detrimental roles in allergy. In this issue of Immunity, Alhallak et al. now identify a protective role of MCs against exacerbated immune responses mediated by prostaglandin E2 (PGE2)-driven soluble ST2. Mast cells control lung type 2 inflammation via prostaglandin E2-driven soluble ST2Alhallak et al.ImmunityMay 30, 2024In BriefLimiting IL-33-driven lung inflammation is a promising means of controlling asthma. Alhallak et al. demonstrate that prostaglandin E2 modulates airway mucosal mast cells and enhances their production of soluble ST2 (IL-33 receptor) to limit asthma-associated lung inflammation. These findings may also help explain the severity of PGE2-low respiratory disease. Full-Text PDF
