Excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body is prone to oxidative stress, which is the basis of disease development. To understand the biological mechanism of ROS and its role in disease, the development of sensitive and highly selective luminescent probes is essential. This review introduces some advanced ROS fluorescent probes, chemiluminescent probes and other related optical methods. In particular, it summarizes the construction principle and the proprietary recognition unit of ROS fluorescent probes, which provides some possible directions for the future development and prospect of luminescent probes.
