Micro/nanomotors can convert different forms of energy into mechanical motion according to the controllable direction by different mechanisms. This new nanodevice is widely used in biomedical applications such as targeted drug delivery, biological imaging, diagnosis, and detection. Although the practical medical applications of these small devices are still in the initial stage, nanomotors manifest their great potential in biomedical applications. In particular, micro/nanomotors driven by magnetic force have great advantages in biomedicine because of their controllable movement direction. In this review, different energy driven micro/nanomotors are classified, and the recent applications of magnetic micro/nanomotors in medicine are reviewed. Finally, the problems existing in the medical applications of magnetic micro/nanomotors and the possibilities for future development are discussed.
