Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a highly prevalent metabolic disorder,1 pathologically characterized by excessive fat accumulation in the liver. Timely pathological staging and targeted intervention are essential for preventing disease progression and improving outcomes. Liver biopsy is gold standard for staging NAFLD, but the interpretation requires specialized pathology expertise. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) may hold promise in aiding NAFLD pathological diagnosis, especially for regions where pathology specialists are limited.
