Abstract The article provides insight into the current state of online globalization as exhibited by various countries and industries. A country and industry wise analysis of the webpages of 870 U.S. and international companies shows that website globalization is still at a nascent stage, with almost 57% of the company websites surveyed showing low levels of website globalization. Comparatively, countries such as Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, and United States showed higher levels of website globalization. Among the industries, consumer software, electronics, entertainment, and consumer durables showed the highest levels of website globalization. The authors' purpose in conducting this measurement and analysis was to help companies determine what foreign markets or regions they should target, and what types of industry sectors show the promise for continued growth on the internet.
