摘要
The aerodynamic interaction of two wings positioned in tandem was experimentally investigated at a Reynolds number of 100,000. Wings of NACA 0012 airfoil section of 4 inches chord and an aspect ratio of 5 were utilized with the space between the wings varying from 0.5 to 2.5 chord lengths. The two cases investigated consisted of, 1) Rear wing fixed at �� = 0 , and the front wing undergoing an ��-sweep of ±90 degrees, and 2) Rear wing undergoing ��-sweep of ±90 degrees with the front wing at �� = 0. The wings proximity had a significant effect on the aerodynamic characteristics of the wings. The aerodynamic coefficients showed sensitivity to spacing however the overall effects became less pronounced with an increase in spacing. Flow visualization showed the formation of separation bubble, vortex shedding and impingement of the separated shear layer on the rear wing and helped with the interpretation of force/moment data.
