Abstract We have successfully tailored a soft solution process for the synthesis of monodispersed SnO2 nanoparticles, applying a liquid phase deposition technique from an aqueous reaction mixture without any post-annealing treatment. The synthesis was carried out by varying poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) content in the reaction mixture. The XRD patterns of the nanoparticles exhibited the formation of SnO2 cassiterite phase, irrespective of the PEG content in the composition of the reaction solution, the reaction time, and the reaction temperature. The mean size and the standard deviation of SnO2 nanoparticles exhibited a decreasing trend with increasing PEG concentration.
