This beautifully illustrated book charts the histopathology and natural history of the atherosclerotic plaque. The stages of development of lesions are documented with many histological sections and electron micrographs detailing each of the Type I–VIII lesions forming the histological classification of atherosclerosis. The choice of illustration along with clear labelling allows the inexpert reader to readily grasp the points the author wishes to make. The introduction describes the pathology of atherosclerosis succinctly but only alludes to the underlying molecular mechanisms.
