Priorities of soil research and soil management in China in the coming decade

• Seven soil priorities for the coming decade in China have been identified. • To protect fertile soil to ensure food production and to increase soil carbon sequestration for carbon neutrality. • To increase nutrient use efficiency for maximizing production and minimizing environmental impacts. • To remediate contaminated soils effectively and to restore degraded soils and soils with limiting factors. • To holistically assess soil health for maintaining soil function and to accurately quantify soil changes in space and time.
