摘要
The modular accident analysis program (MAAP) is a computer code that simulates light water reactor (LWR) power plants during severe accidents. Given a set of initiating events and operator actions, MAAP predicts the plant`s response as the accident progresses through such potential events as core relocation, vessel failure, and containment failure. The results are used to understand the sequence of events, evaluate the influence of safety systems, and assess the effects of operator actions. MAAP treats the spectrum of physical processes that could occur during an accident. These include steam formation, fuel heatup, cladding oxidation, core relocation, lower head-core debris dynamics such as in-vessel and ex-vessel cooling, vessel penetration and lower head failure, debris entrainment, ignition of combustible gases, and fission product release, transport, and deposition. The code also models all important safety system functions such as emergency core cooling, primary system venting, and containment heat removal.
