Achieving high conversion levels in alkane dehydrogenation reactions in conventional fix-bed reactors requires elevated temperatures, which frequently lead to catalyst deactivation, side reactions, and increased energy consumption. In Cell Reports Physical Science, Liu and colleagues achieve the dehydrogenation of light alkanes at considerably low temperatures by constructing a membrane reactor based on hollow carbon fibers and zeolite-supported metal catalysts.
