摘要
The generation of green hydrogen is emerging as a significant player in overcoming urgent clean fuel needs, eliminating CO2 emissions, and reducing fossil fuel dependency. Integrating luminescent solar concentrators as a type of PV-assisted water electrolysis looks promising, especially for integrating PV-Cells or panels in a built-up environment or in mobile applications for green hydrogen production. However, in terms of overcoming the challenges, they present a paradox with low cost, simplified manufacturing, and ease of application, on the one hand, and low efficiencies and voltage, on the other. An increased efficiency necessitates further advanced investigation. Whilst luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) are still in the early stages of being used in this field, we offer our perspective in this review of their potential to vastly improve the efficiency and performance required for water splitting by way of design modification and engineering.
