Asymmetric hydrogenation and transfer hydrogenation of C=N bonds including reductive amination are highly attractive strategies for manufacture of chiral amines that are valuable fragments present in pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals among others. In this chapter, a brief overview the ligands developed for transition metal-catalyzed such important catalytic reactions are presented. Catalysts' performances, i.e. enantioselectivity, activity (yields/conversions and turnover numbers), substrates and its scope are the major focus while the mechanisms are also briefly introduced.
